Rhyming Word Activity – Write the Room

This fun, hands on rhyming activity is sure to excite your preschool and kindergarten kids! Including two versions of the game, this rhyming word activity is perfect for differentiation! Your little learners will love searching for the matching words and images around their classroom.

So what’s included?

• 5 large rhyming cards (run, hen, dog, cat, dip)
• Simple recording sheets (write the matching rhyming word)
• 10 small rhyming card pairs (sun, run, hen, pen, log, dog, hat, cat, zip, dip)
• Recording sheet (write the matching pairs)

This activity includes two versions of the same game so that you can easily differentiate based on the needs of your little learners.

Variation 1: Print pages 3 to 7 on card and place the posters around your room. Print a class set of the recording sheet on page 8. As students locate a word poster, they will need to work out which word it rhymes with on their recording sheet and write the word in the corresponding box.

Variation 2: Print pages 9 to 13 on card and hide the posters around your room. Print a class set of the recording sheet on page 14. As students locate pairs of rhyming words, they will write the pairs onto their recording sheet.
