Stay organised all year with your very own teacher binder! Organise your student contact information; write important dates on your calendar pages; plan your lessons; take notes at professional development days and staff meetings…there are printable pages ready for these things and more!

Setting up your Binder

Calendar – Print your 12 calendar pages and hand write the dates onto each page. Use these to record important dates like the beginning of a new term, reporting and important school dates and presentations.

Student Information – I’ve included a few different options for recording sheets in this section including a page for writing student birthdays on! I love to use the second template to quickly refer to parent names, especially at the beginning of the year! I’ve kept these pages fairly basic because you need to ensure all private information is kept safe just in case your misplace or lose your binder.

Lesson Plans – Teachers plan their lessons in many different ways! Personally, I plan digitally and then print a copy to pop into my binder. However, if you like to write your plan with pen and paper, you might like to use the template included for this section. You can also use the editable document and add your planning to a blank page as needed. Keep in mind that only three pages of the binder can be edited.

Curriculum Documents/Planning Documents – For this section, print off a copy of the relevant curriculum documents for your year level. I have a copy of the Australian Curriculum standards for the Foundation Year in my binder. I also have copies of any planning documents mandated to me by my school such as reading programs, sight word programs and any other important documents. Simply add them to plastic sleeves and pop them into this section of your binder.

Assessment – I’ve included a printable page for recording assessment grades and another for recording anecdotal notes about your students. I like to keep several blank copies of these pages in my binder at all times. The anecdotal notes are especially handy during small group work. You can also add copies of criteria sheets for your current units to this section. Anything related to assessing your students can be added here!

Staff Meetings – In this section, I generally just have some lined paper ready for taking notes. I also add some empty plastic sleeves to this section for any handouts during our staff meetings.

Professional Development – I’ve included a printable for recording your Professional Development sessions and hours in this section. You can also add some lined paper and empty plastic sleeves ready for taking notes and storing any handouts during your session.
