Umm who has time to play with their kids like that?” 🙄

Back when I was a new mama, I was left feeling a bit overwhelmed. I had an energetic toddler named Lilly and wanted to inject more play into our days at home together! I’d set up fun little sensory play activities and excitedly rotated her toys each week to keep things fun and fresh.

But sometimes felt like I was made fun of for wanting to create playful experiences for Lilly. Sometimes I felt like others perceived me to be *trying too hard* to be a fun mum. But honestly? I just LOVED playing with her! I had spent years waiting so impatiently to marry Kurtis and have his babies 🙊

But anyway, fast forward many years, a few more babies, lots of experimenting and I finally found my playful feet.

I don’t stress about those that don’t *get* my passion for play. I’m totally confident in my ability to be a playful parent. My mission in life is to create play experiences and invitations that allow me to build a beautiful, playful bond with my children. I want them to look back on their childhood with so much joy and be filled with playful memories!

And that is why I started the Little Play Club! I don’t want anyone to feel like they’re being an “IG show pony” for wanting to enjoy their time at home with their little learners!

I am here to support you and YOUR playful journey....whether you love sensory play, creating beautiful play environments, setting up exquisite play invitations or getting playful in the great outdoors. With the doors to the Little Play Club closing in just over 24 hours, tonight I thought I’d share some of my favourite activities from a few of our play packs!

For me, this is all about connecting with our little people. This year we have one child in school 5 days and another at kindy 3 days a week, so when they’re home we’re looking for ways to slow down and make magical memories together. And this is how we choose to do it - through play!

Sometimes our focus is on preparing their play spaces to invite them to play independently and ease into our afternoon routines. Other times we prepare an invitation like these to connect as a family. Other times we want to work on a specific skill. And sometimes we just need *something* to get us through to dinner time.

And THIS is what it’s all about! The Little Play Club is like the mother’s group you always wished you could have been a part of 😍 It’s the most beautiful, supportive, passionate group of playful parents I’ve come across and we can’t wait for you to come and join us too!

Feed the farm animals! 🐮 🐷 🐴 I’ve never met a little learner that doesn’t love scooping and pouring!

Whether it’s pouring water from cup to cup in the mud kitchen or some dried cereal or rice from spoon to bowl in a sensory tub, kids love to pour! It’s wonderful for their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and you can even practise counting while you play!

I love to include a pouring or posting activity in our Play Packs over in the Little Play Club and this is one from our Farm theme! I made some little cards to work on some numeral recognition with Elliot but you could also just use a dice to work on subitising (knowing how many without counting) or even just some good old dot counting.

This activity caught the attention of all three children aged 1, 3.5 and 5.5 years so I think we’re onto a winner 🙊 Would your little learners enjoy this one? Let me know! 👇🏻

Our Little Play Club community is filled with hundreds of playful parents, all with one thing in common - a passion for connecting through play!

There’s no denying that play has become a bit of a buzz word on social media. Everyone has an opinion about what play is, how it should look and how involved parents should be.

But there’s one thing you can’t deny - play is pretty special. It’s how our children make sense of the world around them. It comes so naturally to our little learners and it’s something we should protect with every fibre of our being.

But do you know what? I will always advocate for play being a beautiful way to connect with your little learners.

In our Little Play Club community, we have parents from all over the world. Some are home full-time, some study, some work, some have lots of kids, some have one child. Some homeschool, some send their littles to school. Some love printed activities, some prefer sensory play.

This little gnome village has been a FAVOURITE in our play room lately!

My mum @myteachingcupboard made all the gnomes for Audrey this Christmas 😍 We added them to our DIY treehouse with a few of our small world bits and pieces and left it for Audrey to discover!

Sometimes we’ll prepare a small world like this for the kids, and other times they request a particular theme OR they’ll prepare their own using some of the loose parts we have available all the time or by grabbing things from our storage cupboards. It’s truly something magical to watch unfold.

This kind of play is the most popular with the girls. We’re always finding remnants of their imaginative play all over the house!
