Playful Learning for the early years

  • Totally engaged in her small world play! We've started setting some of our small worlds up on our dining table away from small hands. This means our eldest can play quite happily without our youngest stealing bits and pieces. So long as I set something up for him at his little table, I have two content little people! 🎉
  • This afternoon we found another roll of the $2 road tape from @kmartaus so I added it to the top of our table. The kids added some blocks and cars and made their own little town. One child was completely engaged and the other just wanted to knock everything down like a baby T-Rex 🤦🏻‍♀️
  • After our Australian themed sensory tub yesterday, we searched through our books for some favourite Aussie themed stories and books! Do you see your favourite story on our shelves? 🐨
  • Today we set up a little Australian animal small world! We went foraging for gumnuts and native plants and added them to a bed of lentils (from the soup aisle at the supermarket) all set up in our Kmart tray! Then we just had to add our animals from @australiazoo and we were ready for some sensory play! We had so much fun chatting about the different animals that we're going to do some more Australian themed activities over the next week or so!
  • A bit of an African theme on the small world table! These are our @schleichofficial animals on our train table which I hacked and turned into the most perfect small world table! See more of my small worlds over on the #llltraintablehack hashtag! These small worlds are fantastic for developing early language skills, creative thinking and even problem solving! They are one of my favourite ways to play 😍 Do you love small worlds? What's your faaaavourite theme?!
  • Oh my goodness, look at those delicious baby thighs! Yesterday I blogged about this super simple sensory tub that I set up for my 7 month old. I'd love for you to head on over to and have a read!
