One month ago, we welcomed a brand new baby named Audrey to our family! She is the sweetest little thing and these first weeks are absolutely flying by…especially with my husband at home to help out!
Today I want to share our brand new little newborn movement area with you! It’s set up in a little corner beside my desk in the play room. Right now it’s pretty basic (because newborns really don’t need much) but I’m sure this play corner will grow and evolve with Audrey over the coming months!
When I started planning our newborn movement area, I knew I wanted a nice mat to pop Audrey on. I had seen the Mikro Australia foam mats pop up on Instagram often so I immediately jumped onto their website and ordered a small (1.5 x 1m) mat! I love that they are so easy to clean and come with a bag for easy storage and travel!
Next we headed to the shops in search of a mirror. I wanted something I could place low to the ground ready for tummy time exploration. We decided on an acrylic mirror from The Reject Shop because our play room is also shared with a busy 2.5 and 4.5 year old!
When Elliot was a baby, I created these FREE high contrast cards which I printed off for Audrey as well. I popped them inside some cheap FISKBO acrylic frames from IKEA so that they were safe for little hands!
It has been so beautiful watching Audrey move about in this area. At the moment, she’s mostly spending her time laying here on her back or on her belly. But as soon as we put her down, she is surrounded by loving siblings!
Finally, we hung our DIY rainbow mobile which I created after reading this blog post by the Kavanaugh Report! It is such a gorgeous and simple DIY project. I can’t wait for Audrey to start focusing on it and eventually pulling and sucking on the ribbons!
