“Where do you store all of your books?” is one of the questions I’m asked the most. Right now, they are kept on a big bookshelf in a cupboard and we rotate a few at a time.

But I’ve had this burning desire to create a reading corner for them…so when IKEA Australia released a new range of endangered animal products, inspiration hit! Our new IKEA reading corner was born!

IKEA Australia has just launched two brand new ranges of children’s decor with a focus on endangered animals. The DJUNGELSKOG and URSKOG ranges highlight endangered animals around the world and feature bright colours, fun prints, beautifully illustrated books and the most delightful stuffed animals. I just knew this range would work well for our new reading space!

In collaboration with IKEA Australia, I put together a mood board and designed a beautiful and inviting little space for my children to cosy up with a book.

So what items did I use for this space?

  • POANG kids chair
  • FLISAT book display
  • FLISAT wall shelf
  • DJUNGELSKOG round bird rug
  • Two DJUNGELSKOG monkey cushions
  • Set of DJUNGELSKOG orangutan, snake and panda plush toys
  • Three DJUNGELSKOG children’s books
  • URSKOG leaf print curtains
  • FEJKA artificial bamboo

We’ve had the reading corner set up for about a week now. It has been so beautiful to see how much more our little learners are engaging with books!

Lilly is 4 years old and loves to retell familiar stories to the gorgeous DJUNGELSKOG animals. The orangutan is her favourite! Elliot is 2 years old and reading is very much an oral language and vocabulary building activity!

I am sooooo glad we were able to set up this beautiful little IKEA reading corner in our play room! It’s something I’ve wanted to add to our space for such a long time. We all know the benefits of reading with our little ones and I am SO excited to see how this space captures their interests!

Disclosure – I was gifted items from the DJUNGELSKOG and URSKOG ranges, POANG chair and FLISAT wall storage for the purpose of this blog post. I wasn’t paid for this endorsement and all opinions and ideas are my own.
