When I was teaching, I often had a tricky time getting my prep students to line up in an orderly fashion. It was even harder to get them to walk sensibly around the school. That’s when I made my mystery walker cards!

All you need to do is print off enough cards for your whole class. I like to print mine on thick card. Next I write each name onto the back of the cards.

Pop the cards into a cute little cup and leave it next to your door. When your students line up, take a card out and keep it a secret.

I announce to my class that I have picked out a mystery walker. “I will be watching you all very closely to see whether the mystery walker makes responsible choices. If they do a great job, they will get a pom pom to add to their cup!

Once we reach our destination, I congratulate the mystery walker if they did in fact make great choices. If not, I announce that unfortunately the mystery walker didn’t make the best choices and remind the class of our rules.

You would not believe what a difference this made to my class! They were often being complimented by other classes that walked by us which earned me some big brownie points around the school 😉
