We have been working hard to improve our learning space at home. I’ve been loving all things Montessori! Recently, I went to see the I am Montessori learning space in Brisbane and fell in love. There were so many great ideas there.  I was so impressed to see how engaged my 14 month old was in the space. She loved the coin box so we decided to make our own DIY version!

I headed to our local dollar store and found a cute little gift box and some plastic coins from the toy section. The whole thing cost us under $5 to make.

All I had to do was cut a slit in the lid of the box and it was ready to go! You can made it thinner to make it trickier or wider for younger toddlers.

This is such a great little activity for developing fine motor skills and problem solving skills. It also helps to develop the concept of object permanence – knowing that an object exists even though it can no longer be seen.
